PART 1 - GENERAL
1.01 Description
A. The information herein details a cushioned system comprised of two layers of plywood crossed and fastened together over a continuous closed-cell polyethylene foam pad, with maple strip flooring nailed to the plywood top surface.
B. The general contractor shall provide a level slab, steel troweled to a tolerance of +/- 1/8" (3mm) in a 10'0" (3m) radius and subject to the approval of the wood floor contractor. Moisture barriers must be adequate for conditions. The concrete slab is to be depressed 1-1/2” (38mm) plus the thickness of the flooring specified.
1.02 Quality Assurance
A. All system component parts must be supplied by Action Floor Systems, LLC.
B. The flooring contractor must be approved by Action Floor Systems, LLC.
C. Flooring materials must be allowed to acclimate to building conditions on the jobsite in a dry, well-ventilated area, not in contact with masonry, and shall be installed at a moisture content not to exceed 8% except in areas of constant high humidity where the moisture content of the flooring shall not exceed 10%.
1.03 Working Conditions
A. The wood flooring shall not be installed until all masonry, plastering, tile, marble and terrazzo work is completed, and overhead mechanical trades and painters have finished in wood floor area. The building must be reasonably dry; all openings must be closed in; permanent heating and air conditioning installed and operating before, during and after installation.
B. The concrete slab shall be dry, free of foreign materials, and turned over to the wood flooring contractor broom clean. Moderate room temperature of 65 degrees (18C) or more shall be maintained a week preceding and throughout the duration of the work. Humidity conditions within the building shall approximate humidity conditions which will prevail when the building is occupied. Care should be taken to maintain humidity within the range of 35% to 50%.
1.04 Warranty
A. Action Floor Systems, LLC warrants the material it ships to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one year and the flooring installer warrants the installation of the flooring to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one year. The exclusive remedy under this warranty shall be replacement of defective material supplied by Action Floor Systems, LLC or correction of defective installation by the flooring installer. All implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for intended use are limited to the period of this warranty. This warranty excludes consequential damages.
B. This warranty does not cover damage caused by fire, winds, floods, chemicals or other abuse, or by failure of other contractors to adhere to specifications, or neglect of reasonable precaution to provide
adequate ventilation during hot and humid weather. This warranty also excludes damage due to excessive dryness or excessive moisture from humidity, spillage, migration through the slab or wall or any other source. This warranty also excludes damage to floors due to ordinary wear and tear, faulty construction of the building, (other than the flooring installation), separation of the concrete slab underlying the floor, settlement of the walls, or use of water on the floor.
C. During the warranty period, the floor cannot be coated without the permission of the floor contractor.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.01 Materials
A. Flooring
1. Flooring shall be northern hard maple strip flooring 25/32” x 2-1/4” (20mm x 57mm) or 25/32” x 1-1/2” (20mm x 38mm) MFMA grade marked and stamped as manufactured by Action Floor Systems, LLC.
2. Grades available are MFMA 1st, 2nd & Btr., 3rd & Btr., and 3rd grade.
3. Action Long-Length Strip.
B. Subfloor
1. Vapor retarder shall be 6-mil polyethylene.
2. Pad shall be 1/2” (12mm) continuous foam with a density 1.7 to 2.0 PCF. Pad option: 1/4” (6mm) continuous foam.
3. Panels shall be 15/32" (12mm) thick, CD face, exposure 1, 4ply rated plywood.
4. Subfloor fasteners shall be 1" (25mm) cleats or 16 gauge staples.
5. Flooring fasteners shall be 2" (50mm) cleats or staples.
6. Wall base shall be 3" x 4" (76mm x 102mm) vented cove base with premolded corners (specify black or brown), as supplied by Action Floor Systems, LLC.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.01 Inspection
A. Inspect concrete slab for proper tolerance and dryness reporting any discrepancies in writing to the general contractor.
B. All work to put the concrete slab in acceptable condition shall be the responsibility of the general contractor.
C. Slab shall be broom cleaned by the general contractor.
3.02 Installation
A. Cover concrete slab with poly, lap edges 6" (150mm) and seal.
B. Lay-out 1/2” (12mm) continuous closed-cell foam pad (or 1/4" (6mm) when specified) and butt and seal edges with 2” (50mm) duct tape.
C. Place the first layer of plywood diagonal or perpendicular to the intended direction of the flooring, allow 1/4” (6mm) spacing at all edges.
D. Lay the second layer of plywood at a diagonal or the opposite 45-degree angle to the first layer. No joints in the second layer shall coincide with a joint in the first layer. Fasten layers together, nail or staple with 1” (25mm) fasteners starting from the center of the sheet working outward fastening 12” (300mm) on-center, and fasten 6” (150mm) on-center at sheet perimeter. Allow 1/4" (6mm) between panels at perimeter edges and 2” (50mm) expansion void at walls and all vertical obstructions.
E. Machine nail strip flooring into the subfloor parallel to the long dimension. End joints must be properly driven up and proper spacing provided for the humidity conditions of the area as recommended by the local Action Floor Systems, LLC flooring contractor. Allow 2" (50mm) voids at perimeter and vertical obstructions.
3.03 Floor Sanding
A. Use coarse, medium and fine grade sandpaper.
B. After sanding with drum sander, buff entire floor using 100 grit screenback or equal grit sandpaper, with a heavy-duty buffing machine.
C. Vacuum or tack floor before first coat of finish.
D. Floor shall present a smooth surface without drum stop marks, gouges, streaks or shiners.
3.04 Finishing
A. Inspect entire area of floor to ensure that the surface is acceptable for finishing, completely free from sanding dust and perfectly clean.
B. Apply seal and finish per manufacturer's instructions.
C. Screenback or steel wool and vacuum or tack between each coat after it dries.
D. Apply game lines accurately after the seal coat, after buffing and vacuuming. Lay out in accordance with drawings. For game lines, use current rules of association having jurisdiction. Lines shall be straight with sharp edges in colors selected by the architect. Game line paint shall be compatible with finish.
3.05 Base Installation
A. Affix rubber base to wall with recommended adhesive or screws. Miter all corners carefully. Use premolded outside corners.
3.06 Clean Up
A. Clean up all unused materials and debris and remove from premises.
3.07 Maintenance
A. Upon completion of floor installation, the owners, attendants or individuals in charge and responsible for the upkeep of the building are to see that the care and maintenance instructions of the MFMA are followed. Failure to do so may void warranty.

B. The flooring system assembly shall meet DIN 18032 Part 2.
C. The general contractor shall provide a level, steel troweled slab
to a tolerance of +/- 1/8" (3mm) in a 10'0" (3m) radius and subject to the approval of the wood floor contractor. Moisture barriers must be adequate for conditions. The concrete slab is to be depressed
1-3/4"(44mm) plus the thickness of the flooring specified.

Allow 1/4" (6mm) between panels at perimeter edges and a 2" (50mm) expansion void at walls and all vertical obstructions.
E. Machine nail strip flooring into the subfloor parallel to the long dimension of the area. Provide adequate expansion at regular intervals across the floor during installation as dictated by the average humidity conditions of the area according to the recommendations of the local Action Floor Systems, LLC flooring contractor. Provide 2" expansion voids at perimeters and all vertical obstructions. Install ventcove base over perimeter voids and metal thresholds at doorways.

1. Vapor barrier shall be 6-mil polyethylene
2. The Concord panels shall be pre-assembled with AIRTECH II 7/16" natural rubber pads as supplied by Action.
OPTION: 5/8" or 3/4" AIRTECH pads
3. Panel anchors shall be drive pins 1/4" x 2-1/2" or as dictated by job site conditions with anti-squeak sleeves.
4. Flooring fasteners shall be 2" cleats or coated staples.
5. Wall base shall be 4" x 3" vented cove base with premolded outside corners (specify black or brown), as supplied by Action.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.01 Inspection
A. Inspect concrete slab or proper tolerance and dryness, reporting in writing any discrepancies to the general contractor.
B. All work required to put the concrete slab in acceptable condition shall be the responsibility of the general contractor.
C. The slab shall be broom cleaned by the general contractor.
3.02 Installation
A. Cover concrete slab with poly, lapping edges 6" and seal with adhesive or 2" duct tape.
B. Place Concorde Plus panels end-to-end in a brick pattern at right angles to the direction of the finish flooring. Secure adjacent panels with 1-1/2" fasteners forming a continuous subfloor.
C. Secure panels using the anti-squeak sleeves with the anchors.
D. Machine fasten strip flooring at each sleeper crossing. End joints must be properly driven up. Provide adequate expansion as dictated by the average humidity conditions of the area according to the recommendations of the local Action Flooring Systems, LLC. flooring contractor. Allow 2" expansion voids at perimeters and all vertical obstructions.
3.03 Floor Sanding
A. Use coarse, medium, and fine grade sandpaper.
B. After sanding, buff entire floor using 100 grit screenback or equal grit sandpaper with a heavy-duty buffing machine.
C. Vacuum or tack floor before first coat of seal.
D. Floor shall present a smooth surface without drum stop marks, gouges, streaks, or shiners.
3.04 Finishing
A. Inspect entire area of floor to ensure the surface is acceptable for finishing, completely free from sanding dust, and perfectly clean.
B. Apply seal and finish per manufacturer's instructions.
C. Buff and vacuum or tack between each coat after it dries.
D. Apply game lines accurately after the seal coat, after buffing and vacuuming. Lay out in accordance with drawings. For game lines, use current rules of association having jurisdiction. Lines shall be straight with sharp edges in colors selected by the architect. Game line paint shall be compatible with finish.
3.05 Base Installation
A. Affix rubber vent base to wall with recommended adhesive or screws. Miter all inside corners carefully. Use premolded outside corners.
3.06 Clean up
A. Clean up all unused materials and debris and remove.
3.07 Maintenance
A. Upon completion of floor installation, the owners, attendants or individuals in charge and responsible for the upkeep of the building are to see that care and maintenance instructions of the Maple Flooring Manufacturers Association are followed. Failure to follow care and maintenance guidelines may void warranty.

PART 1 – GENERAL
1.01 Description
A. The information herein details a low profile cushioned system comprised of predrilled factory assembled panels consisting of pre-cut 23/32" plywood sheathing, a layer of DR foam, anchoring drive pins and finish flooring.
B. The general contractor shall provide a steel troweled slab, leveled to a tolerance of plus or minus 1/8" in a 10'0" radius and subject to the approval of the wood floor contractor. Moisture barriers must be adequate for conditions. The concrete slab is to be depressed 1” plus the thickness of the flooring specified.
1.02 Quality Assurance
A. All system component parts must be supplied by Action Floor Systems, LLC of Mercer, WI.
B. The flooring contractor must be approved by Action Floor Systems, LLC of Mercer, WI.
C. Flooring materials must be allowed to acclimate to building conditions on the job site in a dry, well-ventilated area, not in contact with masonry, and shall be installed at a moisture content not to exceed 8% except in areas of constant high humidity where the moisture content of the flooring shall not exceed 10%.
1.03 Working Conditions
A. The wood flooring shall not be installed until all masonry, plastering, tile, marble, and terrazzo work is completed, and overhead mechanical trades and painters have finished in wood floor area. The building must be reasonably dry; all openings must be closed in; permanent heating, ventilating and air conditioning installed and operating before, during and after installation.
B. The concrete slab shall be dry, free of foreign materials, and turned over to the wood floor contractor broom clean. Moderate room temperature of 65 degrees or more shall be maintained a week preceding and throughout the duration of the work. Humidity conditions within the building shall approximate humidity conditions which will prevail when the building is occupied. If prior experience indicates relative humidity during sustained heating periods will fall below 35%, building engineering shall introduce moisture into the area when required.
Conversely, if relative humidity increases to 50% or higher, measures should be taken to bring the relative humidity back under control. This may require turning on the heat.
1.04 Warranty
A. Action Floor Systems, LLC warrants the material it ships to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one year and the flooring installer warrants the installation of the flooring to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one year. The exclusive remedy under this warranty shall be replacement of defective material supplied by Action Floor Systems, LLC, or correction of defective installation by the flooring installer. All implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for intended use are limited to the period of this warranty. This warranty excludes consequential damages.
B. This warranty does not cover damage caused by fire, winds, floods, chemicals or other abuse, or by failure of other contractors to adhere to specifications, or neglect of reasonable precaution to provide adequate ventilation during hot and humid weather. This warranty also excludes damage to floors due to ordinary wear and tear, faulty construction of the building (other than the flooring installation), separation of the concrete slab underlying the floor, settlement of walls, or use of water on the floors.
C. During period of the warranty, the floor cannot be coated without the approval of the flooring contractor.

A. Inspect concrete slab for proper tolerance and dryness, reporting in writing any discrepancies to the general contractor.
B. All work required to put the concrete slab in acceptable condition shall be the responsibility of the general contractor.
C. The slab shall be broom cleaned by the general contractor.
3.02 Installation
A. Cover concrete slab with poly, lapping edges 6" and seal with adhesive or 2" duct tape.
B. Place the DR foam over entire concrete slab sealing the joints and edges with 2” duct tape.
C. Place Anchor Flex LP panels end-to-end in a brick pattern at a 45 degree angle to the direction of the finish flooring.
D. Secure panels using the 1/4” x 2” drive pins or TapCons.
E. Machine fasten strip flooring approximately 12” o.c. End joints must be properly driven up. Provide adequate expansion as dictated by the average humidity conditions of the area according to the recommendations of the local Action Floor Systems, LLC flooring contractor. Allow 2" expansion voids at perimeters and all vertical obstructions.

ActionFast is a mechanically fastened anchored channel floor system. This low-profile system combines the benefits of both the anchored channel and nailed down floor systems. The encased ActionFast channel, with its great holding power of hardwood plywood nailers and wrapped by 20-gauge steel, clinches and anchors the flooring nails that are driven in through the tongue of the maple strip flooring. This low-profile system is dimensionally stable, eliminates dead spots and has very good acoustical properties.

PART 1 - GENERAL

2. Grades available are MFMA 1st, 2nd&Btr., 3rd&Btr., and 3rd grade.

4. Wood flooring may be treated by Action Floor Systems, LLC. with Woodlife F when specified.
B. Subfloor
1. Vapor barrier shall be 6-mil polyethylene.
2. Resilient underlayment shall be 5/8" thick rolls of multi-cellular, closed-cell flexible foam with density of 1.7 - 2.3 PCF and factory machined grooves 12" o.c. as supplied by Action Floor Systems, LLC.
3. ActionFast nailers shall be 3/8" 4-ply hardwood plywood and wrapped with 20-gauge roll-formed steel as supplied by Action Floor
Systems, LLC.
4. Channel anchors shall be 5/16" minimum diameter flat head, minimum 2" long, or as approved by Action Floor Systems, LLC.
5. Flooring fasteners shall be 2" barbed cleats or 15-gauge coated staples.
6. Perimeter wall base shall be 3" x 4" rubber vented cove base with matching pre-molded outside corners (specify Black or Brown), as supplied by Action Floor Systems.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.01 Inspection
A. Inspect concrete slab for proper tolerance and dryness reporting any discrepancies in writing to the general contractor.
B. All work to put the concrete slab in acceptable condition shall be the responsibility of the general contractor.
3.02 Installation
A. Cover concrete slab with poly lapping edges 6".
B. Place grooved foam underlayment on slab, groove side up in a brick pattern, with grooves across short dimension of room. A variable void may be left at the perimeter, not to exceed the width of the perimeter base.
C. Place steel channels in grooves, anchoring the channels 14" o.c. with steel drive pins. Use additional pins at ends of channels. Offset channel ends with ends of grooved underlayment a minimum of one foot.
D. Machine nail strip flooring at right angles to ActionFast nailer strip at each nailer intersection. End joints must be driven up and proper spacing provided for the humidity conditions of the area as recommended by the local Action Floor's flooring contractor. Allow 2" voids at perimeter and all vertical obstructions.
3.03 Floor Sanding

B. After sanding with drum sander, buff entire floor using 100 grit screenback or equal grit sandpaper, with a heavy-duty buffing machine.
